Myofascial Release

What is Myofascial Release?

Myofascial release is treatment of skeletal muscle mobility (or immobility). Fascia is the thin, strong, elastic connective tissue that wraps and covers most of the human body including your muscles. Scar tissue tightening of the fascia can result in loss of mobility or even pain. Myofascial release can assist in regaining that mobility through, stretching, “scraping”, or massaging of the fascia to regain it’s flexibility. Increased bloodflow and oxygen are an amazing and necessary benefit of Myofascial release treatment. Releasing the fascia through treatment can also be called advanced soft tissue release or ASTR.
